CARING FOR YOUR PIERCING. EAR & BODY PIERCING - Ensure your hands are clean when ever you touch your piercing.
- In the shower is the best time to clean the ring or bar, removing any build up and gently moving the jewellery.
- After your shower gently pat dry with a clean tissue.
- Apply antiseptic aftercare lotion ensuring that it penetrates into the piercing.
- Clean the piercing twice daily.
- Do not play with the piercing as this will slow down the healing time
- If your piercing is slow to heal try a different antiseptic lotion, saline is excellent.
TONGUE PIERCING - In the first 24 hours keep the environment of your mouth cold by sucking ice, sipping cold drinks and eating soft, cool, non-spicy foods. This will reduce potential swelling.
- Rinse the mouth six times daily with an antiseptic mouthwash every day for the first week.
- You have a longer bar than needed to allow for any potential swelling.
- Tighten the balls daily.
- Changing down the bar size must be done in the first 7-10 days time.
- A new toothbrush is recommended immediately for teeth and gently cleaning the tongue.
- To protect you, avoid alcohol, smoking and tongue play for the first week of healing.
- Contact your piercer immediately if swelling creates pressure.
